Verse 1: I’ve been throwing my heart to the wind

And riding the steel rails

Saving my stories of darkness for one moonlight chance

Well, I thought that fortune was waiting for me in the city

But the further I get from those city lights,

The closer to the stars I dance

Chorus: Now there’s only one hill left to climb

And I’m already there in my mind

Well, I’ve been to the end of the line

Now I’m headed home

Verse 2: It was half past the back side of midnight

When I met the drifter

He passed me the bottle

But he could not remember my name

I stared in his eyes, as cold as the winds of December

And the sound of his voice

Was as lonesome as our empty train

Chorus: Now there’s only one hill left to climb

And I’m already there in my mind

Well, I’ve been to the end of the line

Now I’m headed home

Bridge: Well, I could have flown

But like you I’ve been growing

So tired of hurrying around

Well, it takes just a little more time

But these rails suit me fine

Well, they keep both my feet on the ground

Chorus: Now there’s only one hill left to climb

And I’m already there in my mind

Well, I’ve been to the end of the line

Now I’m headed home

Now there’s only one hill left to climb

And I’m already there in my mind

Well, I’ve been to the end of the line

Now I’m headed home

I’m headed home again

I’m headed home again

I’m headed home
