Free Concerts at the Bexley Public Library

Third Thursdays at the Library: Original Acoustic Music & Stories

The Bexley Public Library hosts the Third Thursday Songwriter Concert Series  The concerts begins at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium with a set by a local Guest Artist, followed by a set from Host Artist Parker MacDonell.  Admission to the concert is free, with reservations for the first one hundred registrants required at this link.  Cookies and coffee and/or lemonade will be available.  The library is located at 2411 E. Main Street with ample off-street parking.

Parker MacDonell

Host Artist Parker MacDonell has been using his original songs, voice and acoustic guitar to communicate with audiences for years. A veteran of the Los Angeles club scene and college student unions across the United States, Parker was named “Best New Artist of the Year” by the listeners of Pete Fornatale’s Mixed Bag show on New York City radio station WNEW. He picked up a bushel of stories by playing bass for Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley during his California stint. He has released four recordings: Miracle on Broad Street with Matt Munhall (2017), The Present Tense (2012), Looking For You (1985) and Home to the Heart (1983).

Kevin Ashba

Kevin Ashba is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer based in Columbus, OH. When not creating his own brand of indie pop and soul, Ashba is a studio session player who enjoys assisting and collaborating with other artists. He is also known for his love of 60's pop and all things Beatles. Kevin performs live with an ever-growing number of artists recently including 60's hitmakers The Crykle and The Cowsills.

Topher James

Topher James is a singer, songwriter and guitarist whose recorded music features funky guitar licks, smooth horn section melodies, and lyrically rich storytelling.  His songs reflect Topher James’ personality - confident, opinionated and carrying an affinity for the finer things in life. He is a Bexley resident who started Move Your Music Forward to support the musical community.

Jesse Powers

Jesse Powers, originally hailing from Sumter, South Carolina, is a self-proclaimed “Joy Reminder-er” and touring new thought musician now based in Columbus, OH. She shares her music at country-wide spiritual gatherings and in the Unity and Centers for Spiritual Living communities, and often graces stages, living rooms, and backyards with her live solo concerts. Her song “The Love Song of Everything” was a finalist in the 2021 Great American Song Contest and was nominated for a Positive Music Award in 2022.

The Third Thursday concerts are sponsored by Six String Concerts, which has been presenting touring singer/songwriters in concert since 1988.
